ILEANA ABREU Biography
(ICS Administrative Director) Ileana Abreu is a global social entrepreneur born in Los Angeles, CA to a Cuban family, divided by seas but united in spirit. After graduating Pepperdine University with degrees in Latin American Studies, Intercultural Communication, and Non-Profit Management, Ileana traveled 26 nations and at last landed in her Cuba bella. Along her journey she has worked as a community organizer and project manager for local and international organizations. In 2005, Ileana was invited to testify before US Congress and in 2009 she was invited to meet with the head of US Public Diplomacy. Turned off by politics, and suffocated by the mainstream rhetoric between the US and Cuban governments, Ileana turned towards a career in media as a means for generating collective evolution of global perceptions of Cuba. She is the founder of The Cubanity Project, a media collaborative that offers new ways for everyone to share in the beauty that lives in the Cuba of today.
Ileana is attending Stanford University’s Latin American Studies Graduate Program, 2010-2011.
